Chinese Visa and Entry Policies (Updated May 2025)

  30-Day Visa-Free Entry for Citizens of 38 Countries
Since November 2024, citizens from 38 countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and Malaysia, can enter China for tourism, business, or family visits without a visa for up to 30 days.
This policy is valid until December 31, 2025.

  240-Hour (10-Day) Visa-Free Transit:
Travelers from 54 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, can transit through China without a visa for up to 240 hours (10 days) when traveling to a third country.
This policy applies to major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Xi’an.

Special Visa-Free Zones:

  • Hainan Island: Visa-free entry for 30 days for citizens of 59 countries.

  • Xishuangbanna (Yunnan): Visa-free entry for 6 days for foreign tour groups.

  • Guangdong Province: Visa-free entry for 6 days for tour groups entering via Hong Kong or Macau, covering nine cities in Guangdong.
