9-Day Jiangxi, Huangshan & Hangzhou Itinerary

Day 1 Nanchang Arrival & Wanshou Palace District

Begin your journey in Nanchang and settle into the city with a walk through Wanshou Palace Historical and Cultural District. Its lanes bring together Jiangxi-style buildings, small shops and a lively food scene, offering an approachable introduction to the province before the mountain days ahead.

Explore at a comfortable pace, pausing for photographs or to browse the shopfronts. Nanchang’s mixed rice noodles and clay-pot soup offer a taste of the city; your guide can help you choose local dishes for dinner. The walk is arranged around your arrival time, so an earlier arrival gives you more time in the district.

Day 2 Nanchang to Lushan: Lakes, Paths & Mountain Views

Leave Nanchang for Lushan, where the road climbs into a landscape long associated with Chinese poetry and mountain retreats. The day’s core walk takes in Ruqin Lake and Flower Path, with time to enjoy the lakeside scenery and the cultural setting linked with the poet Bai Juyi.

Continue through Lushan’s scenic landscape, using the mountain’s internal transport where required. Jinxiu Valley and Hanpokou are among the viewpoints considered when planning the day’s route; your guide selects a workable sequence around the weather, access and your walking pace. Stay on Lushan this evening, ready for the waterfall visit the following morning.

Day 3 Sandiequan Waterfall & Taoxichuan in Jingdezhen

Start with Sandiequan, Lushan’s celebrated Three-Tier Waterfall. The approach includes many steps as the trail descends towards the cascading water; leave time for the return climb as well as the views. This is one of the more demanding walks on the route, and your guide will discuss the pace with you before setting out.

After the waterfall visit, continue by private vehicle to Jingdezhen. At Taoxichuan Creative District, former industrial buildings now frame a contemporary ceramics neighbourhood. Wander among the brick architecture and creative spaces, browsing ceramics where shops are open. The visit introduces today’s porcelain city before tomorrow’s museum collections.

Accommodation: Jingdezhen

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4 Jingdezhen China Ceramics Museum & Wangxian Valley

Visit Jingdezhen China Ceramics Museum to place the city’s porcelain tradition in a wider context. The collections trace the city’s ceramic history, adding depth to the contemporary work you saw at Taoxichuan the day before. Advance reservations are required, and the museum is normally closed on Mondays except statutory holidays.

Continue to Wangxian Valley in Shangrao, a developed canyon attraction with cliffside buildings, bridges, waterways and Jiangxi-inspired streets. Walk through the valley in the afternoon and take in the changing atmosphere as the lights come on towards evening. Stay overnight in the Wangxian Valley area.

Day 5 Wuyuan Huangling Village & Transfer to Huangshan

Travel to Huangling in Wuyuan, a village built into the hillside above terraced fields. The usual access is by cable car, followed by a walk through the lanes and steps of the village. White walls, dark roof tiles and balconies used for colourful shaiqiu drying displays create a distinctive setting for photography.

Explore Tianjie, pausing for views across the terraces. The bridges and glass walkway can be considered for travellers comfortable with heights when open. Rapeseed flowers are a seasonal spring feature, while the fields and village displays change throughout the year. Afterwards, continue into Anhui and settle into your Huangshan-area hotel for three nights.

Day 6 Huangshan: Granite Peaks & Mountain Pines

Set out for a full day in Huangshan Scenic Area, known for its granite peaks, weathered rock formations and pines rooted along the ridgelines. Your guide plans a mountain route that balances the viewpoints with your fitness and the day’s conditions. Scenic shuttles provide access to the mountain approaches, and cable cars can reduce the ascent and descent.

Expect substantial walking and stone stairways even when using cable cars. Pause at the viewpoints as cloud and light move across the peaks; a sea of clouds is a possibility rather than a guaranteed sight. Return to your Huangshan-area hotel after the mountain visit.

Day 7 Hongcun & Tangmo: Huizhou Villages

Turn from the mountains to the villages of historic Huizhou. Begin in Hongcun, where whitewashed houses, dark tiled roofs and a carefully arranged water system form the village landscape. Walk the lanes and waterside spaces, noticing how architecture and water connect the settlement.

Continue to Tangmo, where the waterside street, covered bridge and traditional garden setting offer a different view of Huizhou life and design. Your guide brings the two visits together through the region’s architecture and merchant culture. Return to the same Huangshan-area base for your final night in Anhui.

Day 8 Huangshan to Qiandao Lake

Continue into Zhejiang for Qiandao Lake, where forested islands rise from broad stretches of water. A shared sightseeing boat excursion is planned to see the island landscape from the lake, with the sailing and island stops selected around your arrival time and the operator’s available routes. Boat tickets are quoted separately unless expressly included in your itemised quotation.

Watch the shoreline give way to wooded islands and open water, a change of scenery after the mountain and village visits. After the lake excursion, check into your hotel in the Qiandao Lake area and enjoy your final evening before the journey to Hangzhou.

Day 9 Hangzhou West Lake & Journey's End

After breakfast, travel to Hangzhou for a walk beside West Lake. Lakeside paths, garden settings and views across the water provide a gentle finish after the mountain trails and village visits. Your guide selects a practical stretch of the shore to fit your onward plans.

The nine-day journey ends in Hangzhou, with no hotel night included today. Allow enough time between the lake visit and any onward train or flight. Any transfer from West Lake to an airport or railway station is confirmed and itemised in your quotation. If you would like a longer stay in Hangzhou, the route can be extended before booking.

Jiangxi, Huangshan & Hangzhou Private Tour FAQs

The nine-day private tour starts in Nanchang and finishes in Hangzhou. It travels through Jiangxi, southern Anhui and Zhejiang, with eight hotel nights. Send us your arrival and onward travel details so the first and final days can be planned around them.

The tour starts from US$1,588 per person, based on two adults sharing a room in low season. This starting price is not a fixed rate for every date. Your final quotation reflects your dates, party size and room arrangements, and lists the guiding language and any scenic transport or boat tickets included.

We arrange selected local 4-star hotels for all eight nights. There is one night each in Nanchang, Lushan, Jingdezhen, the Wangxian Valley area and the Qiandao Lake area, plus three nights in the Huangshan area. Your quotation names the properties and room arrangements. The Huangshan stay uses a hotel in the surrounding area rather than a summit hotel.

This is an active itinerary. Sandiequan has a stepped descent and return climb, while Huangshan involves substantial stairway walking even with cable cars. Huangling, Wangxian Valley and the Huizhou villages also include steps or uneven lanes. Let us know your mobility and fitness needs before booking.

Your land vehicle and driver are arranged for your party, with local guiding for your private journey. Scenic buses, cable cars and the planned Qiandao Lake sightseeing boat are shared services. The lake excursion is not a private charter; tell us if you would like a separately quoted charter option.

The itinerary includes 8 breakfasts, 7 lunches and 8 dinners, as shown each day. Sandiequan’s sightseeing rail/funicular is not included. Other scenic shuttles, cable cars and Qiandao Lake boat tickets are included only when expressly listed in your quotation; main entrance admission is included.

The museum requires an advance reservation and normally closes on Mondays except statutory holidays. We plan the Jingdezhen visits around the museum calendar and available slots. Travellers using overseas passports should provide their document details in advance so the appropriate admission process can be checked.

Yes. This route can be tailored before booking, including additional time in Jingdezhen, a different mountain walking pace or an extra night in Hangzhou. Rapeseed flowers in Wuyuan and cloud-sea views on Huangshan are seasonal or weather-dependent, so we plan around your dates without guaranteeing those conditions.
